Whether you're diving into the world of creating Challenges for the first time, revisiting after a hiatus, or just feeling a bit overwhelmed, don’t worry! This article is your go-to guide, providing a step-by-step walkthrough to ensure your clients are set up for success.
First and foremost, it is crucial to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve with your challenge. When it comes to creating Challenges, there are six different ways for clients to earn points as participants. However, keep in mind that each challenge can only have up to five methods at a time. Below, we will go over in detail how to ensure our clients are prepped for each.

Workout Completed
Put simply, if a participant completes a Trainerize workout, they earn points towards the Challenge and if the same Workout is discarded or reverted to scheduled, then the points are lost. Should the participant complete a workout again, regardless if it's the same, they will be rewarded points.
Cardio Activity Completed
Participants are able to earn points for any cardio activities completed within the timeframe of the challenge. This includes scheduled events included in their program, events started by the Participant, and any events that may sync if the Participant has any wearables connected and complete a cardio activity.
Personal Best Set
In a Challenge, participants earn points by receiving a Milestone/Badge for their personal bests. If the same workout is discarded or reverted to scheduled, though the client does not lose their badge, as a Participant, they would lose the points for the Personal Best (along with points earned from the Workout Completed). If Participants were to reach the same Personal Best again with the same exercise stats, they would not be rewarded points again, until they earn a new Personal Best badge.
Daily Nutrition Goal Hit
Participants can earn points when they reach their daily nutrition goal. It's important to consider the specific nutrition goal set for each client; for instance, clients aiming for specific caloric and macro targets will only earn points on days when all goals are met. If they are set to calories and full macros, for example, they will only get points for days where their caloric, protein, fats, and carbohydrate goals are all met.
Clients that are in a challenge that are tracking nutrition must also have their individual Meal Tracking Compliance enabled.
Note: Points earned from meeting daily nutrition goals arrive shortly after midnight based on the client's time zone. This may be something to keep in mind for challenge end dates.
Daily Habit Completed
To encourage a holistic fitness experience, Participants can earn points by completing the habits that are prescribed to them. Clients must have an active habit for which the duration either overlaps or matches with the challenge's duration to get their points. Clients with multiple habits can earn points from each habit.
Fitness Goal Hit
Fitness goals are hit when clients reach a Body Weight Goal or Custom Goal during the duration of the challenge. If the goal is to lose weight, a client must log at or below the goal weight. If the goal is to gain weight, the client must log at or above the goal weight. To gain points with Custom Goals, the client's goal must be completed 100%.
Additional Points to Note
- Clients can engage in multiple challenges simultaneously.
- Only Coaching clients are eligible for challenges. If a client's coaching status changes, their challenge participation is automatically adjusted accordingly.
- Points cannot be earned before the challenge starts or after its end.
- Editing workouts, cardio, or body stats retroactively does not yield points.
- If a participant is removed from a challenge, any accumulated points are lost.
- Points are only awarded for events occurring after a client joins a challenge, even if they fall within the challenge timeframe.
With these guidelines in mind, you are now prepared to create Challenges that inspire and drive your clients toward achieving their fitness goals!
