What is a Phased Program?
Think of phased Programs as long-term fitness journeys consisting of back-to-back training phases. Phased Programs can be utilized for a client's personal program, Main program, or Add-on program.
By combining multiple training phases and scheduling regular body measurement reminders, trainers can build comprehensive fitness plans that evolve with their clients, supporting them through different stages of their fitness journeys.
How do I build a Phased Program?
Step 1: Navigate to Master Libraries
- Navigate to your Master Libraries > Programs section
- Click New > Build New to build a new Master Program.
Note: you'll notice there's an option to "Browse Trainerize Library" for pre-built workouts and programs. Learn more here: Pre Built Workouts and Programs (Trainerize Content Libraries)
Step 2: Create a Phased Program
- In the new pop-up dialogue, enter a name for your phased program.
- Select "Phased training program" for the program type
- Select the number of phases you want to include and the duration for each phase.
- Phases allow you to periodize your client's training and build stages (or phases) that clients can gradually progress through.
- By default, progress photos and weigh-ins are scheduled at the start and end of each training phase. To disable this, uncheck the box if you prefer to schedule these manually.
- Select where you want to save the program (either Shared Master Programs or Personal Master Programs folder).
- Admins and Owners can decide which folder to add the new program to. When a regular or shared trainer builds a new program, those programs are automatically added to their “Personal” folder. To learn more about Program folders and permissions, please see this article.
- Click Save to save the program.
Adding workouts to Training Phases
Step 1: Select a Training Phase
- Choose the first training phase and decide how you would like to add workouts to the phase. You can build a brand new workout, or import workouts from other Master Programs, Master Workouts, or Client Programs.
- Repeat this process to add workouts to each training phase
-
If you would like to add a new training phase, you can do so by:
- Selecting the Add Next button
- Selecting the Import drop-down to import entire phases from another program
- Use the three vertical dots next to the training phase names to access options such as Rename, Duplicate, or Delete
Step 2: Schedule Workouts
- Now that you’ve added workouts to your training phases, you can schedule those workouts on the Master Program’s Calendar.
- Navigate to the Calendar tab under your Master Program
- Click on any day in the calendar and follow the pop-up dialogue prompts to schedule a workout, cardio activity, body stat reminder, progress photo reminder, or an auto-message
- To delete an event on the calendar, simply select the item and click Delete
- To move an item to another day, click, hold and drag the item to another day within the same training phase (you cannot drag items to a date that is part of another training phase)
- For more information on scheduling workouts and other events on a program calendar, visit: How To Schedule Workouts and Cardio Activities For Clients on the Web
Step 3: Subscribe Clients
- Now it's time to subscribe clients to your phased program!
- To do so, click Summary & Subscribers and then hit, Add Subscribers.
Please note: you can add a description to your Phased program under the Description section. The description is only visible to trainers. Clients will not be able to view the program description on their end. Clients can only see the training phase descriptions on their end.
In addition to subscribing clients to the Master Program directly, you also have the option to copy the Master Program to a client's account. Any changes made to the Master Program will automatically update for all subscribed clients, but not for those who have had the program copied to their calendar.
Important: The training phases in a Phased Master Program have their workouts scheduled on a Program Schedule, not a Clients Calendar:
What’s the difference?
- Program Schedule: Not tied to specific dates. Instead, they display the number of days in your program divided into 7-day weeks. For example, a Master Program consisting of 4 phases each lasting 4 weeks, will show 112 days broken into 16 weeks. The numbers you see on the schedule correspond with the day of the program, not with a day of the month.
- Client Calendar: Tied to actual dates, allowing trainers to schedule workouts in relation to a specific day, week, month or year.
REMEMBER: Deleting a phased program will remove all missed/scheduled items from the clients' calendars. However, all completed items, progress, accomplishments, timelines, and auto-post in groups will remain intact.
