The Custom Recipes feature takes nutrition coaching to the next level by giving coaching clients the ability to create, save, and track their own recipes seamlessly within the ABC Trainerize app. This added flexibility allows clients to take ownership of their nutrition journey while ensuring meal tracking aligns with their real-life eating habits.
For coaches, it unlocks even more nutrition coaching potential by allowing you to incorporate familiar dishes into your client's meal plans to promote healthier eating habits and improved outcomes for clients.

This feature is available exclusively with the Advanced Nutrition Coaching add-on.

How Can Clients Add Custom Recipes
Clients can easily add custom recipes directly from their new 'My Recipes' tab within the in-app meal tracker. This requires clients to be set up with the full meal tracking option to track custom recipes. Steps to Add a Custom Recipe:
- Add a new meal by tapping on the + Plus sign from the mobile app dashboard and selecting Meal.
2. Navigate to the My Recipes tab in the bottom menu and tap Create Recipe.
4. Fill in the recipe details, including recipe name, ingredients, serving size, and any additional information you'd like to add (prep time, cook time, suitable eating times, tags, key ingredients, and preparation steps).
5. Once the recipe is complete, click Save in the top right corner.
Your recipe will now appear under the 'My Recipes' tab for future use!
Logging Custom Recipes
- Navigate to the 'My Recipes' tab from the meal tracker and select a saved recipe.
- Choose the date and meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack) from the top bar menu.
- Tap Log in the upper-right corner.
4. The logged meal will appear in the client's calendar under THINGS TO DO TODAY.
Managing Custom Recipes
Clients can manage their custom recipes to edit existing recipes or create new ones by:
- Navigating to the More (three-dot icon) and selecting the 'My Recipes' option
- Navigating to the 'My Recipes' tab from the meal tracker and selecting the More button
Swapping Custom Recipes in Smart Meal Plans
With the ability to swap custom recipes into Smart Meal Plans, trainers can now include their client's favorite dishes in their meal plans.
In order to swap a custom meal within the Smart Meal Plan, you will need to ensure you have the proper permissions set under Settings. To do so, follow the steps listed in the help article here.
Please note: custom recipes can only be manually swapped into a client's meal plan and cannot be auto-generated into the meal plan.
WEB (Trainer):
1. Open a client's profile and navigate to their Meal Plan tab.
2. Select the meal swap button under any meal.
3. Switch to the '{Client's} Recipes' tab to view their custom recipes.
4. Select a recipe from the Meal Swap options and hit the blue SWAP button
MOBILE (Client):
1. Navigate to the Meal Plan tab and select the meal swap icon under any meal.
2. Switch to the 'My Recipes' tab to view your custom recipes.
3. Select a recipe you would like to swap the current meal with and click Swap in the upper-right corner.
5. The swapped custom recipe will now appear in the meal plan!
