ABC Trainerize allows you to create and customize different workout styles that fit your training. In this article, we will cover how you can set up EMOM (every minute, on the minute) and AMRAP (as many reps as possible) workouts within the current capabilities of the platform.
Building an EMOM Workout
While there is currently no dedicated EMOM tool available, you can still create an effective EMOM workout using the internal workout feature. This approach is a great option for this style of workout. Follow the steps below to create an EMOM workout:
- Navigate to Master Libraries > Workouts
- Select the blue NEW button to create a new workout
- Give your workout a name
- Select Interval for the type of workout
- Add each of your exercises to the workout builder with a 60-second timer
- Beside each exercise, enter the intended reps for the time frame within the text box (e.g. Push-ups, 60s, 15 reps)
- We also recommend using the instructions section to communicate the intended workout flow to the client
-
Once you have completed and saved your EMOM workout, add it to a Master Program or Client's Program
-
When your client performs this workout in the app, the timer will continue to roll between exercises every minute, with the rep target clearly displayed.
-
Tip: If your EMOM workout involves clients performing two exercises within one minute (e.g. 10 push-ups then 10 kettlebell swings), consider creating a custom exercise that combines these two movements.
Building an AMRAP Workout
Though there is currently no dedicated AMRAP tool available, you can still set up an AMRAP workout using the custom exercise workout feature! Follow the steps outlined in our AMRAP video tutorial as well as the steps below to create an AMRAP workout:
- Navigate to Master Libraries > Workouts
- Select the blue NEW button to create a new workout
- Give your workout a name
- Select Regular for the type of workout
- Add a new custom exercise by selecting the blue +Add custom exercise option within the workout builder
- Create a new custom exercise with the title "AMRAP" and save!
- Add the new AMRAP exercise to your workout by dragging and dropping it into your workout on the left
- Change the target from text to time and select your desired AMRAP duration. Note that you can only select a time target from the options available.
- Next, add your exercises and their intended reps into the workout. Group all the exercises together into a circuit, including the newly created AMRAP exercise. This exercise will act as your client's timer during the workout.
- We also recommend using the instructions section to communicate the intended workout flow to the client
- Your AMRAP workout is now ready to go! Save your workout and add it to a Master Program or Client's Program
