Encourage your clients to track their water intake to help them stay properly hydrated! Proper hydration boosts muscle function, recovery, and overall performance– helping your clients stay fueled to reach their goals.
With the in-app Water Tracker, building this habit becomes easier, leading to noticeable improvements in results and daily energy levels.
Enabling or Disabling the Water Tracker Feature
Water tracking is a client-facing mobile app feature and is enabled by default for all clients. However, it can be turned off if needed.
To enable or disable the feature:
- On your ABC Trainerize web account, navigate to the Settings tab from the left-hand menu.
- Select the Permissions tab.
- Scroll to the Other section and uncheck Enable water tracking for clients.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save to apply your changes.
Once disabled, clients will no longer be able to track their water intake on the mobile app.
How to Assign a Water Goal to a Client
Water tracking can be assigned as a goal to help clients stay consistent and ensure the tracker appears on their dashboard each time they open the app.
To add a water goal:
- Open a clients profile and navigate to their Goals and Habits tab.
Select the + New button and choose Daily Water Goal.
- Enter the target water volume, select the unit of measurement, and set the duration of the water goal.
- Click Save.
How to Mass Assign a Water Goal to Clients
Water goals can also be mass assigned to multiple clients at once via the Clients tab.
To mass assign a water goal:
- Navigate to the Clients tab from the left-hand menu.
- Select multiple clients by clicking the check-box next to the client's name, or all clients via the box in the menu bar.
Click the three-dot icon > Add water goal.
- Enter the target water volume, select the unit of measurement, and set the duration of the water goal.
- Click Save.
This will automatically assign the water goal to all selected clients.
How Clients Track Water on the Mobile App
If a water goal has been assigned, the Water Tracker feature will automatically appear on the client's mobile app dashboard.
If a water goal has not been assigned, the client can still track water intake via the Quick Add (Plus icon).

Note:
- Clients with a water goal can also track water via the Quick Add (Plus icon) on the mobile app.
- Clients without a water goal will see the Water Tracker on their dashboard after logging water for the day.
To log water intake on the mobile app:
- Select Track Water on the dashboard or click the Plus icon > Track Water.
- Select a previously tracked amount via the quick action buttons or input a custom value.
- Tap Save to log the entry.
Once water is logged, the water tracker on the dashboard will indicate the volume logged.
Clients with a water goal will also see their progress toward the goal, including how much remains:
How to View Water Tracking History
Clients can review their past water entries at any time on the mobile app.
- Select the water tracker from the mobile app dashboard.
- Tap the Clock icon in the top-right corner to view History.
Trainers can also review client water entries on the web by selecting Water on the clients dashboard:
How to Edit Water Tracking History (Mobile Only)
Clients can update or remove past entries from the Water Tracker history view on the mobile app.
- Tap Track Water on the client dashboard.
- Click the Clock icon in the top-right corner to view History.
- Tap an entry to modify the tracked amount or swipe left to delete an entry.
- Click the Save button to confirm changes.
Note: This is client- only feature. Trainers cannot modify client water entries on the mobile or web.
How Clients Can Change Unit of Measurements
Clients can choose their preferred unit of measurement (ml or oz) for the water tracker on the mobile app.
Tap the Profile Photo in the top left corner.
- Scroll down to Units.
- Under Water choose from Milliliters (ml) or Ounces (oz).
Water Goal Milestones and Badges
Clients who consistently hit their water goals will be awarded achievement badges on reaching certain milestones.
Badges earned can be accessed in the Recently Earned Badges section on of the clients profile on the mobile app and web.

Monitoring Water Intake Progress
You can monitor client weekly water intake and goal progress from the Nutrition Center in the Progress tab of a clients profile.
The graph displays 7 days of water intake tracked by the client:
- The light orange bars indicate water goal hit
- Light grey bars indicate water goal missed
Please note: If a client is using an external nutrition tracker (e.g., MyFitnessPal or Fitbit), the Water Intake graph will not appear within the Nutrition Center. ABC Trainerize does not currently import water data from wearable or external app integrations such as MFP or Fitbit.
