Google Health (Fitbit) allows clients to sync calories, macronutrients, and meal details to ABC Trainerize. Trainers can then review this information from the client’s profile and use it to support their nutrition goals.
Important: Google Health and Fitbit are now separate options in the nutrition goal settings. If a client’s nutrition goal is still set to Fitbit, their nutrition data will not sync through the new Google Health connection. Update the goal to Google Health.
How Does Nutrition Tracking with Google Health (Fitbit) Work?
To get started, you’ll need to create a nutrition goal for your client:
- Open up a client’s profile and navigate to the Goals tab.
- Select Add new goal > Nutrition goal.
- Set Track meal details to Google Health.
- Specify your client’s calorie target, a protein target (as a percentage of calories), and full macronutrient targets.
Once the client connects their Google Health (Fitbit) account, their logged meals, calories, and macronutrient data will automatically sync with their ABC Trainerize profile.
Where to Find Client Nutrition Data Synced From Fitbit
Once the integration and nutrition goal are set up, you can view the client’s nutrition data from their profile:
- Open the client's profile and navigate to the Calendar tab.
- Select any day where meals were logged to see:
- Total calories and macros consumed
- A chart displaying macronutrient ratios
- A breakdown of meals recorded that day.
What Data Syncs Between Google Health (Fitbit) and ABC Trainerize?
Google Health (Fitbit) can sync:
- Caloric intake
- Macronutrient intake
- Meal information
The integration may also sync other data, including body weight, body fat, steps, sleep, and cardio activities. For more information, see What Data Syncs From Wearables and App Integrations?.
Limitations of Using External Meal Trackers
When an external meal tracker, such as Google Health (Fitbit) or MyFitnessPal (MFP), is connected to ABC Trainerize, clients cannot use our in-app meal tracker or its features. This includes:
- Logging meals directly in ABC Trainerize
- Access to the Discover tab, My Recipes tab, and Custom Meals feature.
When clients select the + icon > Meal from the app dashboard, they are redirected to the Google Health (Fitbit) or MyFitnessPal app to log their food.
Clients who prefer to use the ABC Trainerize meal tracker or Advanced Nutrition Coaching features must change their meal tracker to In-app.
