The Fitbit integration in ABC Trainerize provides an easy way to track client nutrition and offer informed coaching. This integration allows clients to sync their calories, macronutrients, and meal details from Fitbit directly into ABC Trainerize. By gaining access to this data, trainers can better understand client eating habits, provide personalized guidance, and support nutrition goals more effectively.
How Does Nutrition Tracking with Fitbit Work?
To get started, you’ll need to create a nutrition goal for your client:
- Open up a client’s profile and navigate to the Goals tab.
- Select Add new goal > Nutrition goal.
- Ensure you set track meal details to Fitbit.
- You can specify your client’s calorie target, a protein target (as a percentage of calories), and full macronutrient targets.
Once the client connects their Fitbit account, their logged meals, calories, and macronutrient data will automatically sync with their ABC Trainerize profile.
Where to Find Client Nutrition Data Synced From Fitbit
Once the integration is set up, you can view clients nutrition data directly from their profile calendar view or dashboard:
- Open the client's profile and navigate to the Calendar tab
- Select any day where meals were logged to see:
- Total calories and macros consumed
- A chart displaying macronutrient ratios
- A breakdown of meals recorded that day.
What Data Syncs Between Fitbit and ABC Trainerize?
- Caloric Intake, Macro Intake, and Meal information.
- The Fitbit integration also syncs other data such as body weight, body fat, steps, sleep, and more! Check out What Data Syncs From Wearables and App Integrations? for more information.
Limitations of Using External Meal Trackers
When an external meal tracker, such as Fitbit or MyFitnessPal (MFP), is connected to ABC Trainerize, clients will not be able to use the in-app meal tracker or its features. This includes:
- The ability to log meals in the app.
- Access to the Discover tab, My Recipes tab, and custom Meals feature.
Since meal tracking is handled by the connected third-party app, when clients tap the "+" icon > Meal on the app dashboard, they will automatically be redirected to their Fitbit or MFP app to log food and will not be able to access the in-app tracker.
For clients who prefer using the in-app meal tracker and/or Advanced Nutrition Coaching features, they will need to change their meal tracker to in-app to log meals directly in ABC Trainerize.
