Enable/Disable Voice Messages:
In Messenger:
- Voice Messages are automatically enabled and cannot be disabled in Messenger.
When creating a new group:
- Navigate to the Groups tab > Hit the blue NEW button to create a new group to bring up a pop-up > On the pop-up Slide the toggle into the ON (blue) or OFF (grey) position to enable or disable voice messages in the group.
In an existing group:
- Navigate to the Groups tab > Hit the three-dot menu next to your desired group > Select Settings from the menu options > Within Settings Slide the toggle next to "Clients can post voice messages" into the ON (blue) or OFF (grey) position to enable or disable voice messages in the group.
Drafting and sending voice messages:
Web:
- Navigate to a chat or group > Click the microphone icon to begin recording > Click the square icon to stop recording > Hit the blue airplane icon to send. (see gif below)
- Note: Microphone permission must be given if you are recording a voice message for the first time. Click Allow on the pop-up that appears in your browser.
Mobile:
- Navigate to a chat or group > Tap the microphone icon > Hold to begin recording OR Slide-up to record hands-free > Release to send OR tap the blue airplane icon to send if recording hands-free. (see gif below)
- Note: Microphone permission must be given if recording a voice message for the first time. Click Allow on the pop-up on your screen– this applies to iOS and Android.
Play a received voice message:
- Web/Mobile:
- Hit the blue play button next to the voice message you would like to listen to.
- Hit the blue play button next to the voice message you would like to listen to.
Deleting Voice messages
Delete a voice message before sending:
- Web:
- Click the red bin icon next to the voice message you are recording to delete.
- Click the red bin icon next to the voice message you are recording to delete.
- Mobile:
- Tap the red bin icon next to the voice message you are recording to delete.
- Tap the red bin icon next to the voice message you are recording to delete.
Delete a voice message that has already been sent:
- Web:
- Click the three-dot menu next to the voice message you would like to delete > Select Delete.
- Click the three-dot menu next to the voice message you would like to delete > Select Delete.
- Mobile:
- Press and hold the voice message you would like to delete > Select Delete from the pop-up option that appears.
- Press and hold the voice message you would like to delete > Select Delete from the pop-up option that appears.
Voice Message File retention:
- Voice messages will be saved within your chat or group for six months. After six months they will be permanently deleted.
- Messages that are deleted manually cannot be recovered.
