The Fitbit connection to ABC Trainerize requires clients to create a Fitbit account before connecting. The authentication uses the login credentials of the Fitbit account to authorize the connection to ABC Trainerize. This means that clients can connect and utilize the Fitbit-ABC Trainerize integration using the Fitbit app only, even without a Fitbit wearable.
Note that only clients can connect their Fitbit accounts to ABC Trainerize. Trainers can see the data pulled in from clients' Fitbit accounts.
In this article, we will cover how clients can connect to Fitbit directly from their ABC Trainerize mobile app.
What Syncs From Fitbit to ABC Trainerize?
When connected, the following data from Fitbit will sync to ABC Trainerize:
- Steps
- Sleep
- Body weight
- Resting heart rate
- Body fat
- Caloric burn
- Caloric intake
- Macro intake
- Meal information
- Cardio activities
Steps to Sync to Fitbit
- Clients need to navigate to the More section (three-dot menu icon) at the bottom right on the mobile app navigation bar. From there, select Fitbit and tap on Connect to log in to their Fitbit account.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts to grant ABC Trainerie access to your Fitbit data. Be sure to select the Allow this app button to move forward with the connection.
- Note: the activity and exercise permission as shown on the screen above is required to sync steps and active caloric burn data. If this data is not syncing, ensure the permission has been toggled on.
3. Once the connection has been made, it might take a few minutes for the Fitbit data to start syncing to the ABC Trainerize app.
- Clients will see a "Syncing in background" message as shown in the screenshot below.
- The initial sync will bring over 2 weeks of data.
- Once the sync is complete, the data will appear within a few minutes of the initial connection.
Where to View Synced Data from Fitbit
Once connected, trainers can view clients synced Fitbit data in the following locations within the ABC Trainerize app:
- Client Dashboard: View an overview of all synced data under the My Progress tiles section.
- Activity Timeline: View tracked body stats (i.e. body weight and body fat) within the Recent Activities feed of a client's account.
- Progress Graphs: Track trends and improvements in health metrics.
