Clients' nutrition data from MyFitnessPal may be missing due to their Diary Sharing settings not being set up correctly, or mismatched nutrition and meal trackers. Read below how to resolve these issue(s) and/or easily access their diary directly.
How to Correct MyFitnessPal Diary Sharing:
There are 2 steps to connecting MyFitnessPal - the simple connect and then diary syncing. The simple connect will only share the overall meal summaries and macro data (carb/fat/protein), whereas the diary syncing will share complete meal information from MyFitnessPal. Note, that clients need to ensure they enable the diary sharing publicly in MyFitnessPal so we can import that data.
- In your MFP account, make sure you set your profile to "public" (More > Settings > Diary Settings > Diary Sharing)
- Once the above is done, go back to your Fitness App. Within the "Connect Apps and Devices" setting, under the MyFitnessPal section, make sure you select the "Enable Diary Syncing" button.

How to Align Compliance and Meal Trackers:
Each Client can track their meals on the Trainerize platform via the In-App Meal Tracker, MyFitnessPal, and Fitbit, however, Trainers can also assign clients a Nutrition Goal that uses a different meal tracker. Unfortunately, if a client continues to use their preexisting meal workflow, these meals may not be counted.
To ensure our clients' meal logs are being counted, double-check the following:
-
Client's meal tracker: Does our client's meal tracker/workflow match their nutrition compliance tracker? This can be found on our client's profiles.
-
Client's goals: Does a Nutrition Goal exist? If so, how is nutrition compliance being tracked?
A Client's nutrition goals' compliance, if being tracked, needs to match the same meal tracker/workflow our client uses.
Access Their MyFitnessPal Diary Directly:
You can now also access your clients' meal diary details for the day through a direct link that takes you to their public profile on MyFitnessPal. This direct link is now available both on our web and mobile apps and it makes it super easy to access the information. Check out this help article for step-by-step instructions.
Clicking on the link above on web and mobile will take you to your client's public MyFitnessPal profile.
